NZ Soul Alldayer 2010 – a big thanks to everyone

After holding the NZ Soul Alldayer and “Still Bill” screenings I just wanted to thank everyone who came along to enjoy the event and especially everyone who helped put it all together and make it happen (at the last minute). We’ll be back again next year with another Alldayer event plus we’re going to be looking at putting together more soul events over the coming months. If you’d like to keep up to date with what’s happening then become a “fan” on facebook and we’ll keep you informed.

Here’s the set times for the Soul Alldayer this Saturday Feb 13th at the Kings Arms in Newton. Make sure you get down early as this is gonna be an amazing day of deep soul selections and dance floor grooves. The venue has just installed a flash new wooden dance floor in the main room and they’ve also put together some great food and drink specials for the day.

Bill Withers “Still Bill” movie Feb 11th 2010 – Auckland

As part of the NZ Soul Alldayer event we are holding the first NZ screenings of the new movie “Still Bill”.

You know the music – now meet the man

Still Bill is an intimate portrait of soul legend Bill Withers, best known for his classics Aint No Sunshine, Lean On Me, Lovely Day, Grandmas Hands and Just the Two of Us. With his soulful delivery and warm, heartfelt sincerity, Withers has written the songs that have and always will resonate deeply within the fabric of our times.

Filmmakers Damani Baker and Alex Vlack follow Withers and offer a unique and rare look inside the world of this fascinating man.

Through concert footage, journeys to his birthplace, interviews with music legends, his family and closest friends, Still Bill presents the story of an artist who has written some of the most beloved songs in our time and who truly understands the heart and soul of a man.

Update 11/02/10 – There are some ticket sales for the screening available at the Academy cinema box office so head down early to grab a seat.

I’m pleased to announce that we’ll be holding the first screening of the new Bill Withers movie “Still Bill” at the Paramount Cinema in Wellington on Tuesday Feb 9th. Thanks to Radioactive 89FM we’re also putting on a little “Soul Jam” party so come down at 730pm for some deep Soul music and hang out after the movie with the “Soul Affair” DJ’s and guests.
